Woo Hoo...It's getting fixed!

So a few weeks back while playing Smash Brothers on my Wii, the console decided to suddenly stop reading my disk…all of them! Found that the disk wouldn’t spin up at all, and started to research the issue, found that it seems to be a fairly common issue now with some people who bought early Wii’s when playing Brawl. This isn’t “THE” problem with Brawl (dual layer….dirty lense) but It seems to be linked to brawl as the catalyst at the moment. Anyways, after several phone calls to Nintendo, and a few emails, they finally called me back today and are going to fix it for free even though it’s out of warranty. They emailed me the info this afternoon to have it over nighted down to Washington for the fix, and then sent back up…so i’m really happy to have them fix it, as it will renew my warranty for another year…and I didn’t have to do the fixing myself after all. So I should have it back in time now to get my copy of Mario Kart…and kill some people with some green shells!

I am getting the same thing done to my 360, it “red-ringed” & I had to send it off to get fixed, at no cost (shipping as well)!! I needed it fixed as GTA:IV is due out soon & I have it reserved for the 360!!

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

bwhahaha The red ring of death strikes again and is now posing fear into the hearts of all GTA4 xbox 360 users!

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

I find no humor in that at all, Fire!! The “red ring of death” struck in the middle of my game, Dead Rising!! I was trying to beat it with the bestest finish possible!

Now thats even more classic. I find it good that microsoft quit dodgeing the problem saying it wasn’t their fault. But still they should replace every 360 that gets red ringed if its due to normal use of the system.

Thats the main reason I am staying away from the 360 for now. If I do buy one 3 years down the road it breaks then I have to pay for a problem that MS made themselfs then later on I will have to send it in and pay them again.

I had this same problem with my PS2. The Disc read Errors from Dust and the laser going out of alingment.

What happened to the good old days when a system would last more then 2 days without having a problem?

I have an 13 year old SNES and a 15 year old Genesis that have all the original stuff, well the AC Adaptor for my SNES just finally went out but that was like 13 year old.

My guess is that the system are being made so they wont last, so they can get more money by having people send in there system to get them fix.

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

No moving parts in those systems.

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

Well, if you think about it the orignal NES and Attari were both horrible at game glitches as well as plenty of issues just trying to get them to work! But yea, back in the day having a cartridge based game was really no problem. You really didn’t have to worry about your cartrige getting scratched or anything so long as you protected the inside circuit board. The system didn’t have any moving parts either, but now or these days you have smaller and smaller systems that have all there parts crammed together. You have really powerful and precise lasers that must shoot through a clean lense and everything must always work. Now granted, I think the issue with the Wii’s that are not reading the disk anymore, or the 360’s red ring of death are a bigger problem…but I don’t think anyone planned for it to happen. From what I’ve been able to tell what ever the problem was with the Wii’s it only hit the first few batches that were made. Those that have newer systems haven’t seemed to had the problem.

Update, my 360 “red-ringed”, again & is now on the way to get fixed, again!! This is twice in less than a year & I am getting a little upset!!

Anyone else know of anybody’s 360 “red-ringing” more than once? Let me know if you have heard of it happening!!

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

Negative…the Red Rings were what kept me from buying one until this year. I finally got an elite late this summer and so far haven’t had any problems. good luck with the fix action though. I would hit up MS though about extending your warranty or doing something to compensate you for the downtime of having it fixed so much.

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

I think it’s unusual for a 360 to red-ring more than once, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part. Hope you get yours back soon, Icey.

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

I do too, Figure!! Both times it has done that, I have been playing great games!! First time, Dead Rising & the second time, GTA: 4!!

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

UPDATE: I got my 360 back & so far it is fine!! I have talked to some one who had theirs “red-ring” 4 times!! So, I am going to keep an eye on mine!!

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

I read an article about 360’s being fixed mutilple times with same issues, but the article was contradictory as to the reasons.

One says hardware, that causes scratched and the other says it is Firmware that causes it.

I am glad you systems are fixed.

I still play my old SNES, NES, and Sega Master system.

They are oldschool but they are awesome.

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

Yea, I haven’t had any more problems with my Wii, and so far no problems with the 360 I picked up this summer. The only console before I ever had issues with was my NES back in the day. My Atari wasn’t much of a problem, but the NES…if you owned one you know the problem.

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

I think my 360 red-ringed today, but… I don’t really think I want to find out.

I lost my manual. Is there a reason red lights would show up that doesn’t mean red ring of death? Seems when next I turned it on, they didn’t light up.

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

Red rings just mean an error…could be something as simple as the power cable came loose, the video cable was loose, tray didn’t shut….or worse. If you ever get a red ring of death, look at how many lights you have, and see if you get an error code on screen. Then goto google and look up 360 error codes and it will tell you what the problem is.

Woo Hoo…It’s getting fixed!

Ah, ok. It was when I was retrieving a DVD from the tray from an off-position, so maybe it threw it off somehow.
