Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED...

ATMORE, Ala. – An Alabama death row inmate has been executed by lethal injection for the 1992 kidnapping, robbery and killing of a store owner.

Max Payne died at 6:25 p.m. Payne was the sixth inmate executed in Alabama this year.

He was sentenced to die in the slaying of Braxton Brown, a Cullman store owner.

I just had to post this here. It took awhile, but I can guaranty he won’t re-offend now.

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

I dunno whether it’s slightly wrong that you read of this guys death and all you do is enjoy a coincidence in his name.

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

He’s a murderer that got what was coming to him. Usually I would have just looked at it, thought to myself “now he’ll never murder again”. Maybe I would have also thought, “To bad they didn’t to this to the guy that kidnapped, raped, then BURIED Jessica Lunsford Alive.” Because I assure you, she would still be alive today if we had a real system of justice here. Not one worried about paroling as many people as possible. But I digress…

This time I also saw the name, and thought, “Yeah, I’ll slap this up for others to see.”

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

While I don’t have an opinion of the death penalty (at least not one strong enough worth starting a flame war over), I have to say I hate the character of Max Payne. His dialogue infuriates me (though it was a bit better in the sequel), and he has the smuggest grin on his face. I just wanted to slug him.

So yeah, no talk about the actual murderer, just how much I hate Max Payne’s face. I mean, he’s dead, what am I going to say? Get Herbert West (or Jeffrey Combs, if he’s not available) on the phone and put him to death again?

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

Shall we start the death penalty debate, or are we going to let it slide this time round?

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

Lol! Whatever way you want to go! I’ve got time, but I really should be writing. Though my “troll thread” quota is full, so you might have to wait if one of them flames up and I have to spend some time shit stirring somewhere.

But I must warn you, while I am pro death penalty, I’m anti circumstantial evidence, and pretty much anti ANY testimony from cops after getting a first hand experience in how often they will bend the truth, or outright lie to convict. (found not guilty, not only that, found out the day the jury got it that the law I was being tried under didn’t even have anything to do with me…. beautiful)

I’ll sum it up the way I told the courthouse server when I was recently called in for jury duty… Ahem… “If I’m on the jury you better hope you have a clear video of the offense, in which the offender states his name, and confesses. And it probably won’t hurt for him to get on the stand and admit it. Because failing that, I ain’t convicting ANYONE.”

Oddly enough, I was sent home…

If circumstantial evidence was removed, and police testimony where no audio of the actual conversation exists as well, then not only do I support the death penalty, I support it being tied to a "3 felony/or one murder/ or one class one rape/treason and you’re executed as well. It won’t stop crime. But it would make room in our jails. After all, if the Constitution is moot, as it pretty much is now. Let’s just get it over with!

Whaaaa POW!

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

But… I just wanted to talk about how punchable Max Payne’s face is (at least in the first game).

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

Yeah. Why is the dialog always so tacky in those type of games? I remember one game were your guy could get caught, and get the crap beat out of him. I’d get him caught on purpose, just to vent.

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

Welcome to America.

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

I’m in Blighty =D

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

I celebrate the DEATH of a man that decided long ago that his own life was worthless. He did so when he walked into a store and killed an innocent human being.

I understand that much of the rest of the world has decided that even murders and rapists “deserve” to keep living. Thankfully, most States, and the Federal government in America think differently. They deserve nothing more then a long drop on a short rope.

And what the heck is “blighty”?

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

Well, that’s quite an ignorant statement to make.

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

L_R, what I’d like to know is why we haven’t just gone ahead and passed a Constitutional amendment to allow us to execute people for crimes other than homicide, and for that matter, why it takes 10 years to execute someone. Why aren’t we putting people to the chair–or the firing squad–or the rope–and those are the ways it should be done; these people should face the most painful deaths possible–within 5 months of sentencing? After all, that’s the way it was done for the first 190 years of the country’s existence, and when it was done that way, it did keep the crime rate below what we have today!

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

Blighty is England. Blighty - Wikipedia

As for the death penalty:

We have the law to protect society, not for revenge.

Re: Video game enthusiasts: Real Life -MAX PAYNE- EXECUTED…

Putting someone in prison is plenty protection enough: you just need to remove them from potential victims and you’re fine.

And the deterrent argument has dubious empirical support.

And yeh - I was, but it’s a new year, a new term etc, and I’m back for finals.
