Ugh. Life sucks.

Ugh. My life is starting to suck.

I guess I just need to vent. shrugs

Tomorrow, I am going to school and dropping Intro to Humanities and Intro to Sociology.

I had a paper due in Humanities due tomorrow, and I didn’t get it done. I’m dropping Sociology because my dad said to. I guess because I won’t do the paper that is due near the end of the semester.

And, to top it off, I had a test in Intro to Programming that I think I failed. I’ll see what my professor says next week.

I had to write a program and make sort of a Pacman type thing. The little robot is supposed to go around and pick up all of the beepers and return to where it started.

Well, I ran out of time. Not because I didn’t know what I was doing, I did, but because the substitute that was there said we only had 90 minutes, when my regular professor said last week that we would have the full three-hour class period to take the test. So I had to turn in what I had, which is about halfway done.

And then there is the homework that I had. I only got two out of the three completed. But, when I went to show the professor, only one actually worked correctly(Did what it was supposed to do.)

I dunno what the hell happened. I tested it at home and they both ran fine. shrugs

I guess I’ll find out what happens when I have class again.

OK, I’m done.

Ugh. Life sucks.

K, Don’t drop a class just because you missed an essay. That’s all I’m gonna say about that.

But as for the programming thing, first of all what college has a substitute teacher for a class entirely directed by the original teacher and not a pre-rendered school curriculum like high school. The ONLY time I’ve ever had a sub in college was when it was the first day of class and the sub came in JUST to go over the mandatory syllabus.

Secondly, a lesson plan is a lesson plan. If that involves the professor saying “They get all 3 hours to do the program” then the sub cannot alter that. You should take it up with the dean dude, an hour and a half to do a full functioning program by hand (even with a program-creation application), that’s kind of retarded. Especially in an INTRO to programming course. Yeah, talk to the dean on that one.

Ugh. Life sucks.

Jaks is right regarding the programming class - if 3 hours were promised, you should be able to appeal on those grounds. In general, however, it sounds as if you need to work on your time management skills.

Ugh. Life sucks.

I dunno what’s up with having a sub. We had this same sub two weeks ago because he was sick or something. It’s like they are alternating weeks or something.

As for the time thing, when I questioned the sub on that, she said that that was what the regular professor told her. shrugs

I might ask to speak to someone about that tomorrow.

Ugh. Life sucks.

Actually, yes. About 90% of the class.

Ugh. Life sucks.

Ahh man dont get disheartened, college is meant to bog you down with work, you just need to get your head around it, is this your first year?

Ugh. Life sucks.

Don’t drop either subject for those reasons; they are crap reasons.

Ugh. Life sucks.

Third full semester, so I guess you could count it as my first year still.

Don’t drop either subject for those reasons; they are crap reasons.

Too late.

Ugh. Life sucks.

See if you can backtrack.

Ugh. Life sucks.

So I dropped those two classes today. They actually had me fill out some form that said which courses I was dropping and stuff. Whatever. shrugs

One thing I didn’t know was if I had just stopped showing up to those two classes and didn’t withdraw myself, they would put two 'F’s instead of two 'W’s. I always thought that if you missed however many classes before the withdrawal date, the professor would withdraw you from the course.

Good thing to know, I guess.

I wasn’t in the mood to talk with the dean about that professor for that Intro to Programming class. I have the exam and what I’m supposed to make it do on my flash drive, so I’m just going to finish the program and take it in to class on Monday, along with those two homework assignments.

Ugh. Life sucks.

If you’re not in the mood to try to instantly improve your grades, what are you in college for?

College isn’t llike high school where you can jack off for most the year and manage to squeeze out a diploma still. The difference between a D and C is much more significant.

Ugh. Life sucks.

Because my parents are paying for me to go and I have nothing better to do. Is that a good reason?

Ok, small story for you.

3rd semester at Ivy Tech, I fucked up. I was lazy and procrastinated. Got all F’s. Now I’m relying on my own money/loans JUST to go through college while working a dead end job at one of the shittier fast food restaurants just so I don’t end up permanently working at fast food restaurants.

Ya get it? Take advantage of the free ride, if you’re parents cut you off like the government cut me off, it is quite literally the end all fuck all situation, you don’t wanna experience it dude. You really don’t.

Ugh. Life sucks.

Because my parents are paying for me to go and I have nothing better to do. Is that a good reason?[/quote]

No, that’s pathetic, actually. If you aren’t willing to work to stay there and get a degree and apply yourself toward some kind of future goal or career, then drop out and get a lousy job so you won’t have to worry about classes and grades and maybe making something of yourself one day.

Ugh. Life sucks.

It is a good wakeup call, but I still wouldn’t wish it on him.

Ugh. Life sucks.

Can you not just have some pride in what you do?

Since you’re doing something you may as well do it as well as you can and if that’s not good enough, then get better.

Ugh. Life sucks.

Maybe I should have clarified that statement.

When I went to school yesterday to drop those classes, I went about 30 minutes before my Algebra class was to start. I didn’t have time to talk to anyone. I would’ve been late to class.

This math course is one that I can not afford to be late for or miss any classes. I’m on my second of three tries, so I have to pass this class.

Ugh. Life sucks.

You’re kind of missing the point.

You don’t drop classes because you did poorly on one exam, especially if it’s apart of your degree or if you can actually talk to someone to improve that grade. There’s also the matter that you are actually being paid to go to college, AKA a free ride; you have no reason to drop a class like that other than pure laziness.

You could have talked to the Dean or dealt with the situation AFTER your algebra class if it’s that damn important.

Ugh. Life sucks.

I didn’t drop Intro to Programming. I dropped Sociology and Humanities. I’m going to go to Intro to Programming on Monday and see what my professor says. If he refuses to let me finish or something, then I will talk to the dean or department head or whoever.

If I just go and talk to the dean or whoever without talking to him first, I’ll just piss him off.
