About 10 days ago my PlayStation 3 took a dump. I was in the middle of Modern Warfare 2 playing online when the screen went blank and my PS3 shut off. The green light that is normally lit when the system is on was replaced by a blinking red light after the system beeped three times. I tried to turen it back on and the same thing happened.
I ended up having to take my system apart so I could get my Modern Warfare 2 disc out. Luckily I was able to put it back together the right way so I could sell it.
Anyways, I listed it on eBay five days ago. I started the auction at ten bucks plus fifteen dollars for shipping. The auction just ended and this dude is going to pay $78 plus shipping($93 total).
WTF is in that system that makes a busted PS# worth that much money?
Before anyone asks, my PS3 is three years old and out of warranty. It would’ve cost me $150ish to get it repaired.
Oh man, you should have asked about the blinking red light before selling the whole PS3.
It’s a hard drive issue, and you could have fixed it by removing and then reinstalling the hard drive or buying a new one (which are fairly cheap) if you look for one on ebay. The blinking red light is most frequently a hard drive problem and more often than not, an issue with disconnected wires.
If I thought I could do it, trust me I’d try it. Though, I think I would have a small problem convincing my dad because I can’t really show him where I got the information, nor do I think he would take your word for it.
Well, if I don’t get paid then I’ll research it a little bit and see if I can figure it out. I’m giving this guy ten days to pay, though considering he has zero feedback I’m not holding my breath.
It would be great if all I had to do was replace the HDD because it would save me at least a couple hundred bucks.
Most of the time stuff like this is actually really easy to fix. Check out youtube for how to videos. I recently had to deal with my 360’s graphics going nuts. A little research and I found the problem. $4.25 later…and about an hour of my time and I was back in business. For most people that don’t have tools on hand, the screw drivers will probably be your biggest issue.
