This thread may be a bit quiet until March…

The Mets got Santana, and they kept Fernando Martinez. Great trade, if I do say so myself.
The MLB Thread
Grr….Santana+a healthy Pedro=no fair!
The MLB Thread
Ha ha, we win.
The MLB Thread
yeah but what about the Senators
The MLB Thread
Thats hockey, Ken!! No Senators in the MLB!!
The MLB Thread
I think he means the Nationals. I know a few like myself, who call them the Senators after the old Senators baseball team.

I don’t think they’re a threat as long as the Democrats are in control.
The Mets are definitely the team to beat in the National League this year. And they didn’t have to give up as much as they could have.
The MLB Thread
Very true. They gave up a few prospects. Should be interesting if the deal goes through. I’ve seen trades get screwed up because of a player’s health issues or some other issue.
The Mets are going to be tough, and I agree with the thoughts that the Mets are the team to beat in 2008. I can’t wait for the season to start.
On a side note, MLB is doing a series of exhibition games in Beijing this March, as a way to open the new baseball park there. Opening day is going to be in the Tokyo Dome between the Red Sox and the A’s. Also; the Dodgers and the Red Sox are going to play a pre-season game at the LA Coliseum to honor the Dodgers move to LA 50 years ago.

That’s a lot of travel for the Red Sox early in the season. I wonder how it wll affect them.
The MLB Thread
It’s that time of the year. YAY!
The MLB Thread
hey Val are you a Yankee fan too?
The MLB Thread
The Yankees can drop off the face of the earth, actually I’d kind of like that.
I’m a diehard true blue CUBS fan.
And I may have to go hurt the current owner, because he is going to make himself the most unpopular person ever in Chicago.
The MLB Thread
The Cubs are worthless and irrelevent. They could completely disappear and Chicago would do just fine with the White Sox.
The MLB Thread
Maybe if the Cubs disappeared, someone would go to a White Sox game.

You mean like the World Series they won in 2005? ;p
In all seriousness, I can appreciate that Cubs fans are enthusiastic and they have had some great players over the years. Winners, however, they are not and the “this is the year!” vibe I pick up from the fan base seemingly every year is more than a bit annoying. (I realize, of course, that Yankees fans have numerous annoying habits of their own, but 26 World Series wins and a consistently competitive team to stand behind buys some leeway).
The MLB Thread
The N.L. Central belongs to the Cardinals, we just lease out the title every now & then to the other teams in the division!!
GO St.LOUIS CARDINALS!! For the N.L.!!
GO N.Y. YANKEES!! For the A.L.!!
The MLB Thread
Yeah, but the Cubs still outdrew the White Sox by almost 10,000 fans a game that year.

Last year I had given up on the Cubs in July, much to my surprise they won the NL Central.

I never give up on my Indians. I just heckle them. LOL. I get a few beers in me at the Pro, and heckle the Indians. I love my team. I am NEVER giving up on the Indians. Not after '95 and '97.
