Tax time again... if you have to file

I already did mine. Got it done tonight after I got my W2. I always do mine as soon as I get my W-2 paper in so I can get my taxes out of the way. Plus, I want the return.

I got it done, was wondering if there were other early birders like myself or do you wait til the last minute to do your taxes?

Lower than NC, higher than Louisiana

Wisconsin has a tiered system, or did for 2006. The percentages are:

$0-8840 = 4.6%
$8841-17,680 = 6.15%
$17,681-132,580 = 6.5%
$132,581 = 6.75%

And no I don’t know what kind of deductions are allowed.

Wow, Val… do you happen to know what the federal percentages are?

This is why I own an almanac.

$1 - 7,550 = 10%
$7,551 - 30,650 = 15%
$30,651 - 74,200 = 25%
$74,201 - 154,800 = 28%
$154,801 - 336,550 = 33%
$336,551 + = 35%

These are all for a single person and from 2006.

looks like im in the 15% range(if they are the same, though i doubt they are). im pretty surprised that they take out that much for me and they only take out 28% for my parents.

Did you take into account all of your deductions? You probably have quite a few.

Tax time again… if you have to file

You take your gross income and deduct all of your deductions, then you pay taxes on what is left.

I would suggest you talk to a professional tax preparer, and not one of the HR Block types that only work from Jan to Apr. Ask the members of your parish for a suggestion of who to see.

i dont think i have any deductions. i still live with my parents, i dont own a car yet.

I haven’t gotten mine yet but my boyfriend has.

And I live in another country! Woot.

Still, those taxes don’t seem that high?

I think they’re still about 5% lower than ours. Though I suppose we pay for the NHS.

You have Royalty to support Nemo we just have illegals

I pay mine each year on the 15 sense I never get a refund eventhough I pay in the max I can.

Tax time again… if you have to file

Since I technically don’t make any money, I’m not really supposed to file, as far as I can figure.

It’s really not terribly significant, Ken. Royal expenses are paid out of the Civil List, which is public money, but the Crown Estate profits are surrendered to the state and they often exceed how much they get originally so the British people are, in a roundabout way, not paying anything and often profiting from the existence of the monarchy. They own a great deal of land and profit from it and that’s money that would otherwise go elsewhere but Elizabeth Windsor pays tax on her income and fortune so there’s nothing different from any private landowner there. Many of the royals do enjoy all sorts of tax emptions though, so the state is loosing out in that sense but not through the support of the monarchy. For the most part, while there are many arguments against the monarchy – and I detest the notion of it – finance really isn’t one.

I just filed today. Got word they released my W2’s early so I went online to check and sure enough there it was! I’ve done mine through TurboTax for the last 7 years and have been quite pleased with them. Also, quite happy that both of my boys were born before the end of the years tax season so I get a hefty amount back this year! Woo hoo! I know some new PC parts and tool’s I plan to buy in a week!

I’ve got plans for my money too… called TV on DVD AK. I want to have some entertainment as this writer’s strike and reality TV are ruining the medium for me.

I wanted to get my stuff taken care of early so I would not have to worry about things later on. I hate to wait til the last minute.
