Stupid Acne - Suggestions?
I have some good advice, or so I like to think.
First, switch from liquid face washes; they’re shit. Get a good bar of soap. If you’re willing to make a little investment the Clinique Anti-Blemish soap bar is very good and will last you a good six months.
Second, if you three-stage atm (cleanse, tone, moisturise) you might want to consider altering how you handle the toning. Denatured alcohol (the basis of many toners) is crap for your skin and rubbing over your face with a cotton pad spreads the infection. I’d say just scrap it, to be honest.
Third, moisturiser wise, get rid of anything thick and get a nice gel or at least, lighter cream. This stops you rubbing your face too much and stimulating the sebaceous glands and also blocking the pores.
Fourthly and finally, the active ingredient. Go for an aqueous or alcohol gel with 5-10% Benzoyl Peroxide. Alcochol will dry the spots out a bit more, but is harder on your skin. Do a spot test on your wrist and if needs be go down to 2.5% but it is the only good topical solution.
As an addendum, I find that the only time I ever get any spots is when I haven’t slept in a few days and have been drinking/stressing too much. So go easy on yourself a bit.

Vinegar works because it’s antiseptic. You’d have better luck using Tea Tree (melaleuca) oil perhaps with a touch of witch hazel as well.
Abby - if you’re happy to spend the money, I’m serious about that Clinique soap, though you have to be careful if you have sensitive skin. The other thing is to regularise your skincare routine. Twice a day is not necessarily worthwhile; what is more important is to keep the regular time gap between cleansings as it is to this that your skin adapts.
You might also want, reasonably obviously, to invest in a decent exfoliating scrub for use every few days.
Anyway - I hope it works for you. The other major helper, of course, is sunlight!

I had gotten acne on my chest and back over the years at age 21, I finally got myself some acne cream. It helped a lot so I didn’t get so many pimples anymore. I use the cream when the acne breaks through again.
You will find the cream in the health and beauty section.

I have severe acne on my face, chest and back. The only thing I found that worked is heavy prescription medication.
I refuse to take Accutane until nothing else works. Right now I’m on 2 creams and a strong antibiotic that seems to do the job.
And Nemo is right. Anything with a good amount of Benzyol Peroxide in it is helpful.

I still get the odd pimple on my face here and there. I SWEAR for some reason, my body thinks it is still going through puberty even though I am well into my 30s. LOL! It happens I guess. I just live with it.
I don’t get them as much as I did when I was younger in my late teens, and my 20s, but I do get them.

I find it VERY difficult to understand how anyone that would belong to this particular community could think it would be OK to take a pot shot at something that was a little different, and cause hurt feelings.
While I have never had a desire to partake in gender role play, I couldn’t imagine giving anyone a hard time about it.
For anyone that’s reading this and thinks that that’s OK, I have news for you:
You’re just as unique, outside of the bell curve, odd, screwed up, and normal as the rest of us, it just comes across differently.
Sorry for the rant, it just gets to me.
