Of course, the first Clone Wars was a cartoon as well and that was phenomenal, if not very, very ugly. If it holds up to that quality then it should be just fine.
On the other hand, it seems that this one is much more aimed at kids. To be expected, perhaps?
Re: star wars
I USED to be a fan, but I stopped being one for reasons different than you might expect. After Episode I came out, I just thought the amount of stuff I’d need to remember was getting a little high.
Now, for my take on what I’ve seen of it. The art style I’d have to say is quite ugly. Like they didn’t even finish the work on it. As for what I can make of the story… Anakin is training an apprentice? When the hell could that happen? As it seems to still take place before RotS… The Jedi council hardly trusted Anakin to the end of the last film, why would they… how would they?
ARGH! Sorry, got carried away. I don’t actually know if I was interpreting the trailer right so, that whole rant up there might be useless… except for the art bit.
Also, you might want to have a look at that apostrophe problem.

He was still apprenticed to Obi-wan before RotS. :]

Yeah, that’s what I meant. How does my interpretation of the trailer make sense?

George Lucas has done everything in his power to fuck star wars to the ground, at this point I don’t even care if there’s an Episode 7 ever to be made.

Oh. That’s not Anakin’s apprentice. Just another Jedi, as far as I know.
As to Lucas messing up Star Wars, meh. I really don’t think that the new trilogy is as bad as folks think it is, but then my taste isn’t absolute. The part that I thought was really, really hilarious is the fact that it retconned the entire universe that Kevin Anderson created for Star Wars out of the plot and basically made his second-rate fanfiction disguised as “quality” novels even more apparent for the crap that it was. If anything, episode I was by far the worst of the new trilogy. They got progressively better from there, in my eyes.

What about Zahn’s work?
star war’s
Zahn has had some very positive moments in my eyes. His stuff was pretty retconned out too but the Bounty Hunters book was great, even if it no longer fits, and the stuff concerning Dark Forces/Thrawn was good too. He, at least, is a decent wordsmith. What he needs to work on is his naming.
I’ll never forgive Anderson for the crap that was the “Young Jedi Knights.” It was not only derivative and blatantly ripped off from various other sources but really, really poorly written and plotted like a fifth-grader’s Lego fantasy of the original universe.
You should immediately suspect anybody who basically writes L Ron Hubbard fanfiction, also, as Anderson has.
And, yes, I refuse to acknowledge his stuff as anything but that. The only difference between him and the average fanfiction author is a paycheck and a half-rate editor. That’s not to say that fanfiction is, as a rule, awful. It’s just annoying when it pretends to be something else.

Yes, I quite enjoyed the Thrawn books too…
The Young Jedi Academy were pretty bad, even for the age at which I was reading them (You know you’re in trouble when a cover artist uses Jonathan Taylor Thomas as a model for a character)… though, still better than those OTHER books… that I cannot recall off-hand. They had hologram covers. What were they?
I still don’t throw any books away (unless they’ve been burnt, or sprayed on by cats, so unfortunately, that KJA book on my shelf is there to stay, for the time being. Even if it never gets read.
Also, did you mean Frank Herbert fanfiction?

No, though his work based on Herbert’s notes leaves a lot to be desired as well. I tend to just pretend those don’t exist. It’s too insulting to Herbert’s memory. He’s actually done a spinoff of one of Hubbard’s novels. The name escapes me at this time.

Ah, ok. I sometimes get Hubbard mixed up with other people, so I thought it might have happened there too.
Ok, I figured out that series with the hologram covers that was bad. I thought it was bad during the height of my ‘read everything that has pages’ period so… yeah…
Galaxy of Fear…
Oh, and here is that cover of that Young Jedi Knights book that I was talking about before. I could not finish it even when I was younger (I did finish Shadow Academy though, which I remember liking for some reason). A little before I started getting into Animal Farm and the like, I believe. My timeline of events is kind of screwy, so that may not be true.
Yeah, I think I know who the artist used as a model there.
Though, I don’t know how it would stack up today, but I remember REALLY getting into these books way back when.
star war’s
Heh-heh. There’s nothing wrong with having read them, of course. I wouldn’t have known that they were crap unless I’d bothered to read em cover to cover. I had a lot of spare time when I was younger.
star war’s
Oh, I did too… and I had one of those things from Pizza Hut, that you got a personal pan pizza for every so often books. Life was good.
I wonder who did that cover art for The Glove of Darth Vader… just looking at it is making me nostalgic. Except for the whales… they make me think of Star Trek IV. …Ok, the whales too.
I didn’t read the Young Jedi Knights books cover to cover though. The only one I recall finishing was Shadow Academy… I also had Lightsabers and that one up there… never finished them because they were boring (Not Silas Marner boring, mind you).
star war’s
I was a very bored kid with library card when they were new and they were shiney so I read them, around two to a sitting, and then vowed never to do so again.
star war’s
Well, hell, I enjoyed Vampire$, so my opinion on books is actually pretty terrible anyway.
Oh, and if anyone has come in late and is confused about my Silas Marner comment back there… Silas Marner is my literary foe, whom I wish to run through with a pike and spit in its wounds. Thank you.

Well, considering the tv series was animated, I could see why the movie of the same name would be animated. The characters should not be pointy though. Foul! But… otherwise, yes, I can see that.
I really wouldn’t mind an animated (that’s animation animated, not CG animated) Shadows of the Empire film, if only so I don’t have to try reading it again with my lack of interest in the series. Just get some good voice actors, a GOOD character designer (one who won’t make the characters pointy), the rest of the crew, and … I have no idea where I was going with this.
Anyway… anything will always bother a number of people. That was badly phrased, but it’s the best I’m going to do today.
Peace out y’all! flies off to Jupiter

For the record, I’m an enormous Star Wars fan. I’ve read most of the books, seen the movies countless times, played a ton of the video games, all that jazz. I’m looking forward to the Clone Wars animated film. Dunno if it’ll be any good, but the action should be decent, if nothing else.
I don’t view the series through rose-tinted glasses. Episode I sucked and Episode II left a lot to be desired. Even Episode III was not without its problems. The first Clone Wars animated series was very “meh,” and the books lately have been gigantic piles of crap (see my comments in the book review thread for further information).
That said, no other franchise has ever held my interest as long or as solidly as Star Wars, and I’m always ready to give it the benefit of the doubt. It’s a timeless story of redemption and heroism.
star war’s
I’ve never been able to tolerate Star Wars.
It’s terrible.

ahhhh why did you have to say that. you made me sad.
