So I just got my mail…and Suffolk County just sent a notice to appear for jury duty. Only, it’s not to me or my fiancee. It’s for my two month old!! Yes, Logan has been ordered for jury duty. What the hell? Do I call and explain this to the paper pushers at the clerks office or do I take her to court, and when they call her name, hold her up and say “Here she is, may we be excused?”
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
Are you serious?
That’s fucking hilarious! God, awesome sauce. Heh, you could make one hell of a slap in the face against our government’s supposed intelligence by showing up with Logan…
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
Oh god you totally have to go. Then when they ask if you are Logan say no and show them Logan. It would be fairly amusing seeing the rest of the jury trying to figure out if she is saying guilty or not guilty.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
take her it would be the funnest thing in Suffolk County history.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
I also think you should take her. It would see that someone in the office that issues the jury summons gets taken to task over this. It’s incompetence at it’s best.
Besides, I’d love to see the judges face when she appears for duty. LOL

Re: Should I be upset or amused?
That’s pretty damn funny. You must take Logan.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
Take her and she will be excused. I wonder why these things happen?
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
Because our government is on average less intelligent than a burlap sack full of syrup.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
QFT. LOL
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
I’ve twice been summoned for jury duty by a county I used to live in. And this is months after I’ve changed my voter registration, car registration, etc. In one instance, I recieved an NJ summons after I’d been in NC for more than a year.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
I have never served jury duty but my husband has gotten it twice but never got to be in it because of they had too many people so they said he and the rest could go home. They ask too many to people to come serve it and they have to send the rest home when the room fills up.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
My mom got summoned a few months ago and got picked to be on the jury for some big-time mortgage fraud(IIRC) case down here. She wasn’t allowed to even read the newspaper. The trial went on for 10 days. I looked it up online, though. I forget the guy’s name, or I would find the story for you.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
Was she forced to stay in the hotel room too and she wasn’t allowed internet or TV either? My husband told me that’s what they do to you when you serve jury duty because they don’t want you seeing the media and having your mind get corrupted by it. I just hope I never get it, if I do, I will hope I get dismissed.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
Unless you live in a real small town you’ll be sent to a waiting room and some clerk will look at your ID and log you in. So all the LOLs your going to get are a city employee giving you a funny look, maybe doing a bit of paperwork, and sending you on your way.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
No, she came home at the end of the day.
My mom said it sucked and she doesn’t want to ever do it again.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
I know it would be hilarious, but don’t take her because all it will do is cause them to have to cancel everything which will screw over the other jurors and anyone due to be heard that day.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
I was summoned twice when I was in my 20s. Both times I no longer lived in the jurisdiction. I moved back to that same county over 20 years ago and haven’t been called again. Go figure.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
I was summoned once two years ago when I first started college in Atlanta. Technically, I was only about an hour away from the courthouse, but I was excused because I had a residence on-campus at the time.
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
Why would they have to cancel everything?
Re: Should I be upset or amused?
They’d be a juror short.
