Reading Old Stories

I went to the Fair yesterday and it got me thinking about the story I wrote, “Trip to the Fair.” So this evening, I logged on to read the story.

It is strange reading one of your own old stories. Yes I know it, but it has been long enough that I don’t remember all the little things. At times it doesn’t seem like I could write something like that, yet other times I start tearing it appart for writing something the way I did. I can see the growth I have made as a writer, and wonder what growth I will make over the next several years.

When you read a story you have just finished or are working on, you will read the story the way in intended instead of the words you actually put on the page. One element of reading one of your own older stories, you read more of what was actually written. In a way, this gives a new life to the old story.
