He is officially in the race for president. What are your thoughts? Personally I think that he left such a bad taste in every bodies mouth last time that this wont go vary far.
Ralf Nader 2008
I don’t know why he’d bother.
Ralf Nader 2008
Burning what do you like about Nader? I think I would rather have Hillary then him in office lol.
Ralf Nader 2008
He’s a loser.
Plain and simple. Ralph Nader is a loser. He just wants to run for president for the news coverage. He’s a loser.

I dunno about that, Chris. He may be a loser in the Presidential sphere, but it’s largely due to Ralph Nader that we have seatbelts in cars. That’s saved a lot of lives, and he deserves some respect for that, if nothing else.
Ralf Nader 2008
Right. Please name one thing that he’s done since 1980 that wasn’t unbelievably petty. Thanks.
Ralf Nader 2008
Hey, I’ve already told you that at this point, I think he’s a real detriment to American society. I just don’t want people to forget that at some point in the past, he was a relevant figure who did some very good things. Since then, he has done nothing but make a real ass of himself.
Ralf Nader 2008
Seriously?
Why do you like him. I want one concrete reason that you think he has both the intention and means to carry out. His precise intention as been to garner money from his campaigns since he started actually campaigning. He is, in the purest sense of the word, a huckster.
Ralf Nader 2008
If you make your opinion on an uninformed basis and then just walk away, expect to be criticized on it. Sorry. Good on you for having a concrete reason either way. Now, on to Nader.
Nader lives in a fantasy land, to put it bluntly, where nobody does drugs because they want to, where the government has unlimited funds, and where, apparently, he’s not actually harming our nation by his act of running. The only people I’ve known to vote for him in the last two elections were people who literally did not care what happened to our country, and I’d rather that idiots of that brand didn’t vote at all.
There is merit in the strategic legalization of Marijuana. If I believed that Nader’s statements on the fact were anything other than pandering to get the gullible folk to give him their money, then I might support him.
Ralf Nader 2008
Nader isn’t the only politician who wants to legalize marijuana. Ron Paul has called for an end to the drug war and Obama, though ambivalent, has spoken favorably about decriminalization.
That said, I would like to think that issue alone isn’t a worhwhile reason to support or oppose a candidate.
Ralf Nader 2008
I don’t know a great deal about his personal history or hucksterish ways but on issues and policies - and that’s all that really interest me - I would consider voting for him if I was eligible to.
When I have voted I’ve always spoiled my ballot as a protest vote because none of the available candidates have appealed to me and I don’t want to go down the route of accepting the least worst available but I do actually care. Nader, being a left wing option - and me being disgustingly left wing - amongst a sea of centrists saying very little within a stagnant and over comfortable structure might interest me as a similar figure might if they stood in my constituency over here. I don’t know enough to be definitive but I would look into him.
Ralf Nader 2008
I thought that would be burningblood’s reason everyone talks about nader and legal weed I think its his best shot at even hoping to get votes in the general election.
I also think hes overstaying his welcome way more then huckabee has. Hasn’t he run every time since bill clinton was re-elected?
Ralf Nader 2008
I agree that marijuana decriminalization is a real issue - I think it should remain a crime, but it’s worth discussing - but like WingZ said, one issue is not enough to support a candidate. I’m sure you could find many more intelligent, reasonable people who support marijuana decriminalization if that’s really your big issue.
Mine are censorship and healthcare, and last I checked, Nader doesn’t have anything substantial to say about either.
Ralf Nader 2008
I believe that Nader supports what is termed in the US as single-payer health care. Not, I understand, an especially popular stance amongst Americans but it seems a substantive enough position to adopt.
