Hm. It seems that blogger didn’t quite get the whole story.

The “faked” fireworks were the footprints and only the footprints, apparently. Still slightly amusing, of course.

I watched some of the opening ceremony, past where the footprints were. They mentioned that they were simulated. They looked cool nonetheless, as did most of the effects.
