Moving to New York

So since I’ve posted a few other messages about this move I figured now that it’s set in stone, I’d give a little more explanation as to what’s going on.

For those that don’t actually know my mother is a psychotic hose beast who can’t be talked to. My family is a bunch of gossiping life destroyers, my eldest cousin has 3 kids and doesn’t have the means to raise one, my middle cousin is an alcoholic pregnant chainsmoker with about half a dozen DUI’s since she turned 21, my youngest cousin is possibly in Jail, my aunt dumped her last boyfriend who was actually a really great guy but she dumped him because he didn’t go out and buy a ring and ask to get married at all even though she just got out of a divorce and doesn’t need to be plugging up that hole with another marriage, my brother is an immature 30 year old who just started his first 40 hour a week job, my grandmother and grandfather are both bigoted sexists and racists but that’s a given and finally my mother is…well, someone who delights in arguing. When I say that I don’t mean she’s like me, I mean she gets evil when someone tries to tell her she’s wrong. She screams, yells, mocks you in a condescending voice, holds it over your head for years, flips it around so no matter how it comes out she’s always right, and she’s unfortunately destroying her marriage because of it (she decided to pick a fight with Dave when he repeated a dollar amount in their paypal account back incorrectly because he forgot, she did this in the truck on the way to our thanksgiving dinner).

So anyway, Elliot and I are moving in together in New York, you may know her, you may not, but I’ll leave it up to her how much information she wants to divulge about her life and stuff, it’s not my place. We met a few months ago back before Christmas right when my ex broke up with me claiming we were never dating in the first place, and luckily she was kind enough to give me a chance at starting a new relationship with her instead of passing me off as just one more fangirl AB weirdo.

This is probably the dumbest decision I’ve ever made in my life, financially speaking, but I can’t stand being here any longer. So, two days from now, I’m putting in my two weeks notice. Elliot’ll be down here with me for a little bit after I quit, then we’re going up back to her place on the 11th or 12th of April.

Hopefully by then I can be a little more active with both posts, stories, and occasionally even artwork or photography. Until then, I figured I’d give you guys this update in case any of you were wondering what was up with my life. I’m done with Bloomington Indiana, and am so happy about it.

Dosvadanja you shit for fuck town!

Re: Moving to New York

Where in NY? Just curious; general location is fine if you don’t want to get specific.

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you.

Re: Moving to New York

There are only two places in New York: The city and the rest of the state.

Re: Moving to New York

We’ll be in Upstate NY, in the Rochester area.

Re: Moving to New York

Wiki says it’s NY’s third most populous city, behind NYC and Buffalo.

Re: Moving to New York

Rochester is pretty urban, but where we’re staying is sort of a smaller city.

Re: Moving to New York

Upstate is nice but as I am sure you know Winter starts in october and ends in June

Re: Moving to New York

Well, actually no. Winter starts in December here, and it ends in April. Then a nice, scorching hot summer from June to August.

Re: Moving to New York

Heads up on one thing - I see a lot of complaining about the rest of the family, and not much mirror gazing.

You don’t know my family. You only know me. So please don’t proceed to judge the entirety of this situation based on one of dozens of aspects.

Further, you don’t seem to take into account some things they HAVE given you, like, oh - I dunno…. a place to live? Heat? Food? Water? Electricity?

Umm…what now?

I DID take into account this issue, I said it was a financially stupid idea.

I am wondering if in your move to New York, whether you will attempt to transition? In other words, are you going to attempt to live as a female full-time? Or were you already doing that and I missed it?

Yes and Yes. I’ve been a full female since April of 2010.

Re: Moving to New York

Different part of upstate then I’ve seen 3in of snow in July where I am It was gone the next morning but still

Re: Moving to New York

Financially, it may not be really. You and Elliot share the costs of the household and maybe the job market is better where you are going.

It’s possible and I really do hope things work out but at the very least, considering I have 300 bucks in rent and that’s all I have to pay per month (food, electricity, DSL, etc etc, that’s all free for me) I do have it good here, damn good. I just honestly can’t stand being around my family any longer and perhaps I am the way I am because I learned it from my family, but I can safely say I am nowhere near as bad.

The best way I can describe them is this, if they were physical abusers, that would be a step up.

Re: Moving to New York

then i am ethier mistaken or the hamlet population 50 where i used to live doesn’t report weather anomilies

Re: Moving to New York

New York is expensive, try to save as much as you can before you go. Have you guys looked at places to rent (online). Do you have an idea of how much rent and utilaties are going to cost?
I do wish you good luck.

Re: Moving to New York

She’s moving up with me in upstate New York, not the city. I’ve already got the place and we know how much the utilities and stuff are gonna cost.

Re: Moving to New York

This is New York State not the City

Re: Moving to New York

The town I’ll be living in is pretty tiny, and so I wouldn’t expect anything to be extremely expensive, except gas of course.

Re: Moving to New York

Having lived in a couple areas of Upstate/WNY, the small towns can get expensive easily. Especially when you have to drive 20 minutes to get to anything to do.

But it’s nice out here, even if hot and humid at times in the summer.

Re: Moving to New York

… and we do a pretty good Antarctica impersonation in the winter

Re: Moving to New York

Generally, there’s no real reason to go to Rochester unless you have a job there or if you like getting mugged.

Re: Moving to New York

I’ve already researched the towns business’s, it’s small but it’s not THAT small guys. It still has a couple of supercenter’s, it’s definitely not a backwoods hick town.
