More Riley on TV

The video kind of stutters at places for some reason. Make of it what you will :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: More Riley on TV

She was pretty composed in the video and seemed to take all the questions in stride, and I do appreciate how she made it evident that she didn’t represent all of us. What show was that though? I didn’t catch the title.

Re: More Riley on TV

bill cunningham’s show I think.

That was kind of funny. I was expecting like a normal stutter or like a skip. Instead I got to see the host repeat the word “Fetish?” over and over again, and once in slow motion for good measure. Honestly, I found that part of the video the most disturbing. Much more than Riley. But I’m admittedly biased.

You know, I have mixed feelings about Riley. After hearing about her from the rest of the community, I always got the impression that, of the people who have gotten on television to talk about infantilism, she was the best. And maybe she is the best, now that I give it some serious thought. But it’s like, compared to Bret and Stan, that’s not saying much.

More than anything, I felt like the biggest problem I had with the show was her introduction. They make her out like a freak, straight from the get go. Was it really necessary for her to come out flouncing around in a schoolgirl outfit, arms full of stuffed animals? I mean, I’m not surprised, just off-put by it. I sort of appreciated that Bret, at least, dressed professionally (there’s a link to a segment of the “Unusual Syndromes and Fears” with Bret and Doctor Phil at the end of the video) – not that it mattered. Bret was a selfish prick.

I will say this about Riley, though. After the initial shock of her arrival, she was exceptionally well-spoken, and she did a very good job shrugging off the host’s condescending demeanor. Like WildKarrde said, she also made it clear that she didn’t represent all of us, and the bit about her expressing her First Amendment right seemed to win the audience. It was strange. Initially, I was just aggravated and annoyed by her, but she really grew on me over the course of the segment.

Anyway, good find. Probably one of the better representations of Infantilism. I just wish they could have left out the shock value factor.

Re: More Riley on TV

It used to be that I thought any exposure is negative exposure mainly because of the freaks that are out there but after a while I just stopped caring.

I’ve met Riley, personally (and I mean personally, she spent the night at our house for a weekend) and honestly, she’s an obnoxious snob who tried to tell me I was cutting up onions wrong (Seriously…I use a slap’n’chop, how do I cut up onions wrong?). In some ways she’s nice because of things like helping me get a job, and in other ways she’s completely self-involved and likes to tell other people how they’re doing it wrong, such as Elly’s driving.

In a lot of respects, she was basically a more outgoing free spirited version of me and one of me is enough as it is :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: More Riley on TV

Well the talk show is in reference to the My Strange Addictions episode which details Riley’s lifestyle, including what her roommate’s script thinks of her.

Re: More Riley on TV

What the guy said sounded scripted, like it wasn’t actually coming from his own mind.
