The UPI story says “Jayakody said the guard gave him the option of changing his shirt or facing arrest for the “offensive” image.”

I have worn an Oakley shirt that has an atomic bomb blast coming out of a goggle-clad scientists head on the back of the shirt & a red skull & crossbones on the front, on a flight & no one has said a thing!!

I fly pretty often, and I don’t think anyone has ever said anything about my shirts, some of which are gently anti-establishment. If an actual person were offended by my shirt, I would change it before flying. If an airline rep asked me to take it off to please some hypothetical hypersensitive person… I might not be so compliant. Freedom of speech may not give you the liberty to yell “fire” in a crowded theater, but I don’t see why wearing a shirt on a plane should be an issue.
I have, however, frequently been searched as a terrorist - pulled off the line, individually searched, metal wand, that kind of thing. I think this is because I’m a young male, traveling alone, one-way ticket, no checked bags. So far, I have no complaints, because this means I get to skip the (often very long) security line.
