Despite it being a discovery-channel website, I’m still cynical and skeptical enough to not totally believe this. If it is true, that’s pretty damned amazing, but if it’s false, then no surprise to me.

And after all, the Discovery Channel can hardly be said to be a perfect source of information. From watching Mythbusters alone you should be able to see some pretty evident failures in their experimental methods and also attitudes towards accuracy.
They are an entertainment channel, albeit vaguely educational (though one questions the value of so much of the schedule (Dirty Jobs, anyone?).

I’m not sure how old I was when I learned the alphabet but I certainly wasn’t 3. I was four or five when I did. Some kids learn it younger than age three. Talking at 6 months? Define talking; babbling. Hey I was talking at seven months then and then stopped when I was one.
Babbling or making sounds is not talking.

As for learning the alphabet, three is hardly young.

Yeah I stopped talking complete my mom said. One day I was babbling and then the next day I wasn’t making a sound. No smiling, making sounds, laughing, nothing. All I did was cry.
