Hooray for Aging Cars

I drive a 1994 Honda Accord LX (it’s the newer looking model, thank God). I got it as a hand-me-down from my Uncle back in 2005, and it’s up to about 188,000 miles. It’s still going strong!

Sure, it has some odd things about it, such as the back speakers screeching if I turn the bass up too loud and the door sensors not working correctly, but damn! I love my White Stallion!

Here’s where it gets really odd. I’ve got one of those FM transmitters so I can listen to my MP3 player in the car. I set the station to 88.7 to hear static (my transmitter takes about 5 seconds to work). During that 5 second wait, I turned my heat up, and what did I hear? A high pitched sound coming from my radio! The higher I turned the knob on the heater, the higher the noise got. I was even able to play “Mary Had a Little Lamb” with my heater!

I suppose that’s what comes with old cars. Anyone else have a similar quirk or other odd thing with their car?

Hooray for Aging Cars

I have a 1987 Nissan Maxima, and it has odd electrical issues. Everytime I turn it off, the radio and clock resest, which can get annoying. Also, I have to open the door before I turn the car off, or the automatic seatbelt won’t come off unless I do it manually.

Well the electrical system interfering with the FM reception not being an old car thing definitely makes me feel a bit better

That’s absolutely awesome.
