Sorry to hear you got in an accident, Nemo. Hope you’re okay (I’d imagine you are, since you’re posting and all) and that the damage to your ride isn’t bad.
As for how I’m healing…Surgery went good, still kind of dopey from it, but truthfully, the operation to repair the ligaments was actually less painful than tearing them in the first place. Percocet helps, I think lol. The thing I miss the most, other than working, is taking a honking shower. Baths are nice and all, but I can remember hating baths as a kid…and now that’s all I can take. Oh well, what can I do? Might as well get used to it.
Erm…I wasn’t in that crash, Jaks. I broke my ankle like a month ago, and had surgery last week for torn ligaments. My primary occupation, however, is that I drive a tow truck (rollback, actually, if you know the difference)…hence my irritation at being injured now. Lot of tow truck drivers made a lot of money today.
No, I don’t make commission, I get paid per tow, for the most part. If I have to go X-amount of miles from Boston, the guy I contract to adds a per-mile surcharge to the bill, of which I get half.
As for government work, I tow for the BPD and State Police as well. Yes, the Commonwealth and Boston have their own trucks and drivers as well, but government workers move at their own pace, and cops, being government workers themselves, know this. If the cops need something towed RIGHT NOW (accident clearance, DUI stops, etc), they go to a private company.
That IS commission. Whatever service you provide, you get paid based on how much you do that service.
Anyways, I have no sympathy for you. You show us a 59 car pile up and your first thought was complaining that you couldn’t profit off this due to your broken leg.
I guess it’s a good thing I wasn’t looking for your sympathy then, huh? I was merely venting, and pointing out that regardless of the money made (which, since I have a baby on the way now, is pretty important), I’d so much rather be working than sitting at home doing jack squat. That’s all. Take that for whatever you will.
Your message was “I could have made a lot of money today due to this fifty nine car pile up but I have a broken leg,” and you don’t see any selfishness in that?
I don’t care if you have a child or you meant to say that you’d just rather be working or helping out the people in the car. What you actually said was you could have made money off this but didn’t. There was no “Regardless of the money” in your statement, otherwise you wouldn’t have brought it up to begin with. It’s extremely offensive, especially to the people that may have been fatally injured in that wreck if your first thought is the kind of money you could have made.
Oh, and normally when people are venting, they’re bandwagoning people to their side, which is in essence looking for sympathy.
Hmm, you say all I cared about was money…And yet, I said Thank God nobody was hurt…
But you know what, Jaks? Forget I said anything, alright? It’s too damned late, too damned cold and I’m getting a freaking headache trying to debate with you. Just let it go.
He did mention that he was glad people didn’t get hurt. I suppose it’s the same way that a funeral director wants people to be dying every now and again (preferably the wealthy).
