Tonight due to sheer boredom I’ve been going through old VHS football games and having a good time tonight. Tonight I found my copy of the Kent State/Akron game from 2006 at Kent, and I also found my copy of Super Bowl XXXVIII which also featured the infamous ‘wardrobe malfunction’ at halftime. I also found a few other games I had too.
Anyone else got large collections on tape too? STILL going through the tapes. LOL. Making my way through my Ohio State football collection now.
i used to have a huge collection of wrestling tapes but unfortunately when i moved a couple of years ago my dad was chucking alot of stuff and they got mixed in but yeah i know what ya mean its great to go back and look at awesomeness from a few years ago. nothing beats nostalgia
I still have a dozen or so sitting in a laundry basket next to my bed. I had them in my media cabinet, but I needed room for my DVDs and CDs. I don’t know what to do with them. I thought about putting them on Craigslist, but my mom doesn’t like the idea of someone coming inside our house. eBay wouldn’t be worth it. Good Will or the Salvation Army, maybe?
I used to record things on VHS all the time. Then my VCR took a dump. I had a combo DVD/VCR and I would’ve had to replace the entire unit if I wanted a new VCR. So, instead of replacing the entire thing I got rid of it, got a cable box with DVR installed and I use my PS3 to watch DVDs.
I love my DVR. I use it all the time. I have a few things from over a month ago still on it because I haven’t had a chance to watch them yet.
I still have from a year ago, my Cleveland Browns/NY Giants game from Monday Night Football that I was at apon my DVR and I had to use my tape I wanted to use so I can record the Steelers/Charger game on Sunday for not just myself, but my boss who was at the game as he is a die-hard Steelers fan.
Well, them’s the breaks. I plan on SOON putting that Browns/Giants game I was at on tape as it was probably the highlight of the '08 Browns season. GOD, I got wasted that night after the game…
I just love the fact that I can use my VCR to watch football games and including my prized tape, one Vickie might remember- The 1986 AFC Divisional Playoff Game from the Browns and the Jets, double-overtime at Cleveland Stadium. I have the WHOLE game on tape. And another goodie, Len Barker’s perfect game on tape. May 15, 1981. Lenny Barker pitches a perfect game against the Toronto Blue Jays in front of 7,920 fans at Cleveland Stadium as the game is broadcast on Channel 43 from Cleveland. I have that game too.
If it’s provided by your provider, then hooking it up to a VCR or standalone DVD recorder are pretty much the only ways of doing it without violating your rental contract and/or the law.
My DVR is provided by the cable company and I have an option to either transfer or record(I forget which ATM) the show to a VCR, but I don’t have one hooked up. I have so much memory that I just leave TV shows on there and watch them when I have a chance.
The only time I will ever be in danger of using up a ton of memory is when I am going away on vacation for a couple weeks or more, and even then we have another DVR in the living room.
you can purchase DVR harddrives that are compatible with most DVR systems, or you could go with a DVR card for your pc as long as it has the capabilities to record streaming saved, rather than live streaming as some of the cheaper models do.
you also may need additional programming with the latter route.
(Topic’s kinda moved on from this, but) with regards to the 28 day law, I think that’s active (or was not that long ago) in the UK, it’s one of those laws that’s only used to convict someone if they’re obviously mass pirating but there’s not enough evidence for a conviction. There’s a few ridiculous laws like that, to ensure no-one’s completely law abiding, just for use on the really nasty buggers though.
Nobody really cares if you’ve taped every episode of the Simpsons unless you’re flogging them.
