God I hate Adramelech in FF12.

Is it just me or is Adramelech the Capricorn Esper in final fantasy 12 just ridiculously fucking hard to obtain?

I’ve attempted over and over and over with all sorts of strategies, and on my final attempt before I just decided to give up and come back when I’m stronger, my only strategy was to mist the absolute fuck out of him.

Ironically, it worked. I beat him, it took about fifteen minutes but I actually fucking beat him. Then his little pissant zombies came back into the pictures and SLAUGHTERED me as I had used up all of my magic and three of my characters were dead.

I tried to obtain him at level 30-31, I’m assuming this is probably a little on the low side but one of the walkthroughs recommended I have Adramelech before I continue on to the next part of the main story (and considering how much of a bitch he is to get, I can see why. Belial and Mateus have their uses but damn having the lightning element helps a LOT in this game for some reason).

I didn’t have much trouble, but I also didn’t really use Espers or Mist much during my playthrough. I came back and got Adramelech at a higher level (60s or 70s, if I’m not mistaken), and he wasn’t hard.

That said, my strategy for most FF games is “level the hell up and watch enemies cower before you.” It generally works pretty well.

Of course the rule for 8 was “level the hell up and watch bosses eat you alive”.

Yeah, I remember Diablo was always equal in level to you for some reason, and because of this it would have been better to fight him at a low level rather than a high one.

Keep in mind I’m less than half that level, thus why he was much harder.

No kidding. I ran into Zalera way earlier in the game that I was supposed to and promptly got creamed. After that, I decided to leave most of the sidequests until later in the game, when I’d be at a high enough level to deal with them. That decision also helped keep the plot moving at a nice pace, although I would still take some time out to grind. Most people hate grinding, but honestly, if a game has a good battle system (and FFXII certainly does), I don’t mind too much.

Ahh, well in this game Adramelech is associated with thunder while Belial is associated with Fire.

So quite literally hours upon hours after doing side quests and clan hunts, I decided to continue with the main story. Well, I made it past Salikawood and Phon Coast into Somech where I found this new boss that is just beyond insane, even worse than Adramelech.

Ahriman, and his first tactic was to use an ability called “Divide” which made ten or twenty copies of himself that all relentlessly attacked the HELL out of me. Seriously though, was Square Enix just throwing out the balance rulebook on this one?
