geeks?

I know this is kinda odd, but I was wondering if there are any geeks out there like myself?

I am a technogeek gamer

geeks?

Why classify yourself in any kind of status quo conformity?

geeks?

old habit from when I was in the navy I guess.

I never really thought about it in that sense before.

geeks?

I guess everyone is a bit geeky in there own way, like im a bit of a sports geek or a music geek or a ass hole

geeks?

There’s nothing wrong with classifying yourself as something; identifying is not inherently bad.

geeks?

Sure there is. Saying I’m a geek forces one to think what a geek is and NOT who I am.

geeks?

And you’re likely to get a much worse reception by the general population if you give them a long explanation of why you are not a geek than if you just say “Yeah, I’m a geek”. There is an efficiency-based reason for one word summaries of people.

geeks?

I would think here a longer explanation would be better than just to shorten and simplify it.

geeks?

Very well said, JayJ!

I’m a computer geek and proud of it.

Identifying yourself in some way is not bad. You don’t have this unbelievable amazing transcendental essence that it’s crucial we all know about. I know people are all a bit different, but only a bit; largely categorising is accurate. Additionally, if you want to identify in a particular way, it’s your own damn choice. If I want to call myself a geek (I don’t) I will.

geeks?

Not truly a geek but I like computers and video games.

Re: geeks?

hmm well it all depends on how you describe geeks like me im a video game and a really big computer geek. like when i tell my friends about something as simple as ram chips or grapics cards they don’t get and its like im a total computer android to them but having that kind of knowledge is very useful and hand so don’t judge a book by its cover.

geeks?

I am very much into Technology, but I don’t classifiy myself as a geek. To be blunt about it, I’ve always grown up with the term geek as someone akin to Steve Urkel or Skreech. Now or these days, for me it’s someone who is very computer knowledgeable, but tends to brag about there computer like a cart guru would about there car. 99% of the time they play WoW way…way to much.

I guess I get this image now based on those that I work with. I myself am very computer and network knowledgeable as that is my job. I do network infrastructure and so I work in an area where there are plenty of nerds, geeks and tech gurus. I like to keep myself on that very fine line between nerd and just smart.
Alot of my friends like to consider me the smart one in the group, and some of my old friends used to like to pick at me for it. So I liked to remind those dumbasses (we aren’t friends anymore!) that when it’s -48 outside…i’m quite comfortable in my office while they are outside working away looking in wishing they could be warm.

See kids…being smart and getting a good education to get what you want in the world sure pays off!
