here’s a video that kinda gives people a bit of a taste of what it’s about.

Firefly!!! My favorite show
For those who haven’t actually seen this series, go smack yourself and buy it.
It’s one season long plus a movie, Serenity, and it’s fucking awesome.

jaks your awesome! I have been a big fan since it’s first episode and helped to collect funds for the Big Damn Movie AKA Serenity.

Firefly is a good show, but unfortunately, it got canceled before it could really take off (no pun intended). Serenity, as a movie, was not so good - it definitely did not take full advantage of the big-screen format, but that’s what happens when you have a TV writer and a cast of TV actors in a movie. Still, I’d highly recommend both the show and the movie to any Whedon fans, or sci-fi fans in general. You won’t be disappointed.

thankfully serenity may not be our only BDM. Joss and everyone are looking to try and get a second one up and running soon… but with summer’s schedule with the terminator series it’s kinda hard but hopefully we should have the movie at least starting to be shot within the next 8 to 12 months. I have every confidence in Joss and if he says he can get something I’ll be the first one with a ticket out to cali!

Wow… that’s definitely the first I’ve heard of a sequel. :o

Can Joss Whedon really work on another series right now? He has Dollhouse (which looks awesome, by the way) premiering in January.
Firefly!!! My favorite show
Yes Joss is working on dollhouse and no one is talking about a firefly series. several… thousand fans have expressed the desire for what many have called “the big damn trilogy” and I guess Joss would like to try to get do that. The taping for dollhouse will only be for another 2 months i think. I myself would like to see a trilogy, as well as to continue my (all be it minuscule) activities surrounding the Franchise.

Wait wait, didn’t Joss working on too many series get firefly canceled to begin with?

I think that had more to do with the fact that Fox completely botched the marketing campaign for Firefly. But speaking as a writer myself, working on three high-profile series at once is too much for one person, even though he did not write each episode personally. Even Whedon has limits. One series as a time should be fine - and if he wants to work on another movie, too, that should be OK.

I’ve learned one thing in my years of experience with network TV, it SUCKS, and they always let the good shows die young while shows like Survivor, American Idiot, Big Brother and their ilk thrive.
I am still pissed CBS didn’t give Jericho it’s chance, like they should have. 7 episodes for a second season? UGH. And the storylines didn’t make a lot of sense. Hence why I don’t watch network TV, or reality shows or their ilk. They cause the good shows to die young and when they develop a following and replace it with Kid Nation or some other reality show… makes me say this to reality TV, and in the words of Archie Bunker, PPPPPTTTTPPPHHH.

Yes, I was also a fan of Firefly and I watched every episode of the show, but due to the fact I don’t have time for movies, I haven’t seen Serenity.

I can’t believe that this thread actually led somewhere.
Firefly!!! My favorite show
Why?
Firefly!!! My favorite show
Firefly was a good show that completely overestimated the appeal of a sci-fi/western to general audiences. That coupled with the fact that FOX seems to have programming ADD meant disaster. We may have lost Firefly and Futurama, but at least we got three hundred generic reality shows in exchange!
Also, speaking on the same topic, I’m flabberghasted that Pushing Daisies is still on tv. I was almost positive that charming, creative television shows were clausily obliged to leave the air after one season.
Firefly!!! My favorite show
Due to the writers strike, there is a dearth of new programming ready for this season. Rest assured, next year will see a full load of “original” crap to replace anything truly creative.
