Just purely to satisfy my own curiousity, Figure how can you stand to play Xenosaga? I tried to play it, and made it about three hours in and was so bored with all the FMV’s (which were beautiful, but boring) that I shut it off and never went back.
I can see that it’s not a series you get into lightly, and I’m sure that after playing through all three episodes you have a profound satisfaction, but how can you stand the hours of sitting on your hands waiting to be able to play again?
I’ve played a few other games that were in a similar boat, Star Ocean, Blue Dragon, Final Fantasy XII. All had great stories, but were just too full of talking and not full enough of action.

I think one of my favorite games of all time would have to be the Mech Warrior series. I was (and still am) a huge fan of giant robots…IE Gundam, Robotech, Transformers, Heavy Gear, and of course Mechs!
I also loved battlefield 2 when it came out since it really dug into squad based tactics and rank within the game.
But yea…my list would have to include:
Mario Brothers 3
Falcon 4.0
Paperboy (so friggin addicting back then!)
and a few others…but I draw a blank now…my son wants my attention!

Dementia’s Knight, I definitely see how you could get turned off from games with a lot of cutscenes - they’re not everyone’s cup of tea. The fact is, I loved Xenogears (which, for its time, was pretty cutscene-heavy, too), and I was really psyched when Xenosaga Episode I came out.
I was pretty bored in the beginning myself. There really are an absurd amount of cutscenes for the first few hours of gameplay. That holds true for episodes II and III as well, unfortunately. What kept me going, though, was that the storyline and characters are brilliantly developed, and each game has a deep and rewarding battle system with a ton of options for customization. In each game, once you get past the initial cutscene barrage, the gameplay-cutscene ratio improves dramatically, and you get to sink your teeth into an incredibly creative battle system.
Also, it gets easier to sit through the cutscenes once you’re invested in the story, particularly in Episode III, where there are a number of really touching cutscenes involving the deaths of characters whom you’ve followed for three games - hours upon hours upon hours of development, culminating in a final, emotional moment. Granted, it’s a lot of investment for rewards later on, but I really loved those games, and think it’s a shame that they didn’t sell sufficiently well to make any more.

Ah, always good to find another classic adventure game fan, Fire! I have a Nintendo DS, and I’m absolutely delighted that the point-and-click adventure game seems to be making a big comeback on that system.

Excellent top pick, Princess Sunni. Super Mario RPG got me into the RPG genre, and it’s still one of the most delightful games I’ve ever played.

I have a few problems with it, though.
First, the SNES is at my Grandparent’s house. I don’t get to play it often.
Second, the SNES sometimes doesn’t work right/ it freezes.
Third, I was at The second Belome fight and my data got erased. 
I hope it comes out soon on the Virtual Console, as well as a few other games…
