That’s pretty nasty. I’ve hated McDonald’s ever since I watched Supersize Me a long time ago and try not to eat there; this is just another reason, IMO.
Her site is currently down for me(the link is in the news article), but there are some pretty gross photos.
To be fair, I bet if I showed up at her house unannounced at random times like she did at McDonalds, I would find high levels of bacteria in her house as well. I bet if I walked into her kitchen and tested her ice maker in her refrigerator, I would find bacteria(that is a very common occurrence).
I wonder if she goes to the public parks around her town and tests the playground equipment at those as well. How about her own kids swingsets in her back yard? How about her own vehicles? I will put $100 that I can find high levels of bacteria on stuff that she owns, just like she found at a PUBLIC facility like McDonalds. Heck, she should go to her local hospital and test, those results make McDonalds look tame.
I understand why she did what she did, but people in glass houses…
LMS: Agreed, though I still don’t think McDonalds should have banned her. Not a very smart PR move, IMO. But fact remains that the only way not to be exposed to this kind of bacteria is to walk around in a giant airtight hamster ball.
Anyway, this reminds people to remember to wash your hands thoroughly with soap before you eat, preferably with an alcohol-based rub as that destroys most viruses and bacteria. And be considerate to others as well; make sure your kid has clean hands before going onto play equipment (though this only works if everyone cooperates - and whats the chance of that?).

This isn’t a “fair” equation or analogy.
First, McDonalds is a public place, not a private home. As such it is subject to basic health and safety standards that are usually quite a bit stricter than any standards of living at a private home.
Second, and this is more against her and not your quote, her kitchen is an indoor place which can be cleaned and sanitized far more than a playground which is usually an outdoor place.
All I can say about this sorta thing is that if she was really wanting to look for the major sources of bacteria, look no further than a fast food restaurant/gas station bathroom. Seriously, it doesn’t matter if you use those sanitary paper things that go over the toilet, a restaurants public bathroom is among the most unsanitary, nastiest places one can ever go and anyone who’s ever had a fast food job know’s EXACTLY what I’m talking about.
I’m still floored to this day just what kind of horrors you can find in a public restroom. I am SO fucking glad we have a customer restroom and a separate employee restroom at Blockbuster.
Do you really expect a public place to be sterile 100% of the time? Not even a hospital is 100% sterile 100% of the time. Its as sterile as it takes to open a door to exit the room that was just cleaned.
I could go into the McDonalds in my town and disinfect every single piece of playground equipment, and within 5 minutes of being done, go back in and test, and guess what, it would have bacteria on it, because the facility itself would not have been disinfected.
And those “strict” health codes are a joke. Did you know that Flies are allowed to be in the restaurant/fast food chain in small numbers?(because it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep a place 100% fly free) Also did you know that if they receive a bad grade on an inspection, it still does not get made public until AFTER they fail a second inspection(usually 2-4 weeks later) unless the violations were so out of whack it warrants an immediate closure? Health code enforcement in the US is a joke.

You clearly didn’t read what I said. I AGREED with you, why in the world are you arguing with me?

Show me some evidence of this please.
I’ve had 15 jobs, and I’ve seen quite a few stores shut down due to health code violations, including ones I’ve worked at.
