Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

I believe that good dreams have a way of cheering us up when we’re down or possibly reminding us about good times that we’ve had, as well as many, many other things. Its hard to explain to others why a dream can be a good one for you but when you tell them about it they see it more as a nightmare. The sleeping human brain is a confusing thing. What are some of the good dreams that you’ve had?

I just recently (right before posting this) had a dream where I went back to High School at the age of 25 but I looked like a 16 year old and since I had already been through High School before I had a distinct advantage over the other students. At least that’s how my sleeping brain saw it. I think I was doing some kind of research project for college that basically wanted to see if I could pull it off; though since I was a Sophomore in the dream and had already gone though my Freshman year again I’d say it was a total success. There was no creep factor to this dream. I wasn’t trying to score with underage girls or do anything inappropriate. I was just going through High School again to see how far I could make it before I got found out. I know that for many, the thought of going back to school like that would invoke fear or some form of hatred but this dream was awesome because I got to do some things that I always wanted to do but never had the courage for in real life.

my dreams are not that clear some nice some not but I dont do whole stories

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

I’ve never had a good dream that I actually remember the next day, and as such I’m not sure if I’ve had any at all.

For me, nightmares are so much more profound and announced than something pleasant that it’s easier for me to remember them.

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

I don’t have all that many nightmares, and good dreams are kinda rare as well. (Which is why I enjoyed the dream that I wrote about, they don’t happen all the time.) Usually my favorites involve myself and a bunch of friends on some awesome adventure. The kind where everything seems to work out. The worst part about those dreams for me is waking up since I usually feel disconnected and off balance for a good part of the day. Like I lost a part of me when I realized that none of it was real. :frowning:

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

So I’ve slept with my pacifier in for the last couple of days and something unusual has happened: I have been having extremely pleasant dreams during each night. Before I started using my pacifier again I had mostly neutral dreams usually involving work or something else similarly mundane. But these dreams have been nothing short of fantastic!

I don’t usually fall asleep with a pacifier during my on-call weeks. (I think it has something to do with possibly being called out at any point during the night and the desire to stay professional.) So I only ever use it when I can sleep with out interruptions.

I do believe there is a correlation here. Possibly having to do with the soothing nature of a pacifier itself.

I’ll do some more “research” tonight. Lol

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

Pacifiers affect my dream in a very literal, almost tangible sense as opposed to any abstract “positive” sense. Often times, Elly will come into my room, see me sleeping, and pop a pacifier in my mouth and I am mainly aware of this because of the fact that my dreams have this happen to me as well. When I feel it in real life, I feel it in the dream.

Lately…I’ve begun dreaming more…interesting dreams so to speak. They aren’t exactly positive ones, but they do fill me with a sense of satisfaction and contentment.

One example is that I am a child again and develop a newfound ability to control water telekinetically, like a water bender from Avatar but with a far greater degree of control than what was presented in the show. I wake up one morning, I’m my 9 year old self again, I am aware of my entire life and all of the decisions I’ve made up to 24 but I’m now in the body of a 9 year old, and back at Wernle, the mental ward I spent 22 months of my life at.

So…the first decision I made was to practice with my new found powers and then, on the next rainy day, annihilate every single man, woman and child in the cafeteria during dinner, grinning as I am splattered and bathed with their blood, before walking out of the building and flying off into the night.

It felt good…hell, it felt great. Vengeance is one of those feelings that we often find to give us fulfillment and closure. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a positive thing but to me, it was a good dream.

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

I must have missed the water benders when I watched Avatar. 3D glasses gave me a headache.

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

Avatar: The last Airbender and Avatar: Legend of Korra aren’t in 3D. They’re cartoons…on nickelodeon.

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

My research yielded some interesting results. Chiefly, a great nights sleep! Also more incredible dreams. My belief has become fact; there IS a correlation between falling asleep with a pacifier and good dreams. For me anyways.

I believe further study may be in order though. ;D

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

Plus…since you’re an adult and your teeth are for the most part done growing…there shouldn’t be any damage to your teeth. Hell…I’ve been sleeping with a pacifier every single night for the past 4 years.

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

I hope its a continuing pattern. If it looks like it will be after a few more nights than I’ll start sleeping with mine full time.

Unfortunately, I find that I start to get mouth sores if I use mine too much.

That’s interesting because in addition to enjoying the simple pleasure of a pacifier, mouth sores are one of the things that I’m trying to prevent. When someone in my family asks about it I tell them that I’ve been waking up in the morning having bitten some part of the inside of my mouth and that a pacifier keeps the number of occurrences down. Apparently that’s not complete fiction as I’ve actually woken up on numerous occasions having done just that! I’m hoping that using my pacifier helps the situation as I’m a VERY slow healer when it comes to mouth sores.

Re: Do Good Dreams mean anything to yall?

So apparently its not just pacifiers that will help me have good (or at least vivid) dreams. Its diapers also. I’ve fallen asleep with them on before and not had a noticeable improvement in dream quality. I’ve only recently started experiencing dreams that were affected by what I was wearing to bed; and by recently I mean in the last two days. I’m not sure if its in response to me trying out more AB stuff or just a continuing fluke but I’m enjoying it immensely! If anyone has any insight please share. I don’t want it to end, I just want to understand it better.
