Coal in your stocking?

As the old adage goes, “If you aren’t good, you’ll get coal in your stocking at Christmas!”

The phrase that put fear in the hearts of kids in my generation.

The question I have is, has anyone ever had that happen to them or known of someone who did? Not so much actual coal, but just not getting anything for Christmas?

i gave my friends real coal for xmas and nothing else - in a few years time it will be worth £1000s when all our resources phail
