Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

Just got back from Cloverfield tonight, and I must say that I had my doubts going into it but was blown away once things got going. Like the topic title says, I’m not gonna spoil anything for you guys. I’d like to say that if you get motion sick or hated The Blair Witch Project, this movie is NOT for you.

The movie did an excellent job of making you feel like you were part of the action, and kept the story moving at a good enough pace that I never felt bored or disinterested in what was happening. Overall, I think that this movie took a good premise and turned it into a very enjoyable adventure. If you’re a fan of action and suspense, I’d recommend this movie. If you go see it, enjoy!

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

I wanna check this out… I heard J.J. Abrahms created this cause he felt America needs it’s answer to Godzilla.

I do wanna check it out. I’ll probably wait til the DVD though, I don’t go to movies often cause I have bad luck and usually end up in a packed theater with teenagers yakking all around trough the whole damn movie.

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

America had it’s answer to Godzilla with that abhorrent piece of crap Matthew Broderick version a few years back. But this blows that out of the water!

On a side note, J.J. Abrahms is making another Star Trek movie which makes me want to stab him in the face. He’s lucky I love Lost so much.

I just saw this about an hour ago, this is the the must see movie out right now, all I can say is I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie.

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

I know about the new Trek movie, I’m just hoping he’s at least respectful to the legacy that is Star Trek. I am a fan of Star Trek, yes…. I am a geek. LOL.

And yeah, I was not all that fond of that 1998 Godzilla movie either. I only have it for sake of seeing Madison Square Gardens get blown up.

Hey Knight, is this movie worth plunking out 8 bucks?

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

Meh, I’d say yes for my own tastes, but the whole shaky handheld cam thing could bug a lot of people. In all honesty, I’d say if you enjoy a movie with good story and a fresh presentation 8 bucks is a fair price. Hope that helps.

P.S. It’s alright to be a Star Trek geek, but honestly isn’t enough enough? Maybe I’m biased because I hate Star Trek, but I just can’t see another movie being worthwhile.

Knight, I actually agree with you on that… especially after the last show. Let sleeping dogs lie, I say.

I’ll take Cloverfield into consideration for something to do next Friday night when I am off work and I get my paycheck.

Re: Cloverfield (Spoiler FREE)

Nope don’t get motion sickness, but do hate Blair Witch (cause it ripped off a plot from a great horror movie)!! So should I go see it?

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

Yes you should Icey. It’s nothing like Blair Witch other than the camera work and the premise that it’s footage of actual events. I would more closely liken this movie to Godzilla meets an enjoyable time. If you’re a fan of enjoying yourself then for sure go see this. Hope that helps.

I enjoyed it immensely, even though I could easily understand how someone could hate it.
Especially considering the fact that there are no actual ANSWERS…but I’ve never had a problem with mystery, and I thought it suited the nature of the film just fine. I think the fact that there was no obligatory “Scientist” character was worth the price of admission alone. The “SHOCKING EXPOSITION” scene is one of the most obnoxious running cliches in giant monster movies, and I am SO glad Cloverfield left it out.

I do kind of wish they explained why the movie was called “Cloverfield”, though…
Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

Thanks Knight, I may go see it after all then!!

Why is any military scuffle what it is? I mean to be someone that gets paid to come up with Desert Shield, or Iraqi Freedom would be a sweet gig. I think Cloverfield is a great name btw, because I was expecting an army of leprechauns to attack New York and polish the city’s shoes. I’m kind of sad that’s not what ended up happening.

Heh…

… well I have to say that I hated Blair Witch Project, and Lost, and find Alias only just a bit tolerable but Cloverfield impressed me. If there are two oscars, this early in the year, which I would say that the movie merits, they are probably for Sound Effects (there’s one for that, right?) and Cinematography. The acting was fine. It was just also not really prominent enough for any judgment on it to be made.

Is anybody else really annoyed at the people saying that the movie didn’t “appreciate 9/11” enough? What a load of bunk…

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

I din’t see cloverfield yet. I was going to see it as soon as I can but I got a run in with the flu for a second time in less then 3 months! I been wanting to see this ever since I saw the teaser at Transformers.

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

Oh…

MY…

GAWD!

I just got back and… and… nerdgasm

Okay, so, now that THAT is out of the way, I was just completely blown away by Cloverfield. It’s one of the few American giant monster movies I’ve ever seen that I can recommend in a "IT’s good because it’s GOOD!’ sort of way (as opposed to my usual “it’s good because it’s bad”.

It’s one of the most immersive experiences I’ve ever had. For those who are interested, but are going to “wait for the DVD” … DON’T! This is something that needs to be experienced on the big screen with a damn good sound system. If you’re cheap about how expensive movie tickets are (DVD’s are more expensive) just go to a matinées. You’ll thank yourself later, trust me.

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

agrees

Probably the only reason I didn’t rate this higher was because massive amounts of people were talking the entire time in the theater. Ugh.

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

My problem Orms, is the damn teens who won’t shut up during a movie.

That’s why I am hesitant to shell out money to a movie cause I don’t wanna deal with that element. SHUDDER. No offense, but I hate talking during a movie I paid for. I remember when I saw Deep Impact in the theaters I had to tell some to quote, “SHUT THE FUCK UP! Shut off the cell so I can watch the damn movie!” so I could watch the damn movie in peace.

It was some stupid idiot teenage girl, who just turned around and flipped me the bird. I shocked her by flipping it back. Security ended up taking her out of the film due to her excessive cell phone usage. That ruined the motion picture experience for me. Hence why I am hesitant to shell out money to a movie.

It also happened to me a few other times as well.

Maybe I’ll go see it when it’s an off-time while teenage brats are still in school or something. I dunnknow. I wanna see Cloverfield, yet not be bothered by teenage idiots again. No offense to the teens here. Please accept my apology there.

BabyChris121675

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

If it’s not the teens it’s the parents that bring their small children to movies. If you can’t afford a sitter then you shouldn’t be going out to a movie.

I share your frustrations with the A holes that attend films nowadays Chris and Orms. As an 18-25 year old person, I personally don’t see the need to fiddle with your phone or talk to your “homies” during a film. Why pay good money to go see I Am Legend (which ruled) only to talk about how cute some boy at school is? (which a gaggle of young girls did when I went to see that film) I always wait till after a movie to talk about boys…I mean girls!

Knight

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

Chris, the only time I go to see movies is during weekday matinee’s, I’ve seen movies with as few as one other person in the theater at the time, actually I think I saw one all by myself.

Cloverfield (NOT Spoiler FREE)

I’ve gone to see films when there have been a load of teens there. On a Wednesday the local cinema only costs £3 a ticket. So if you go in the early evening, there are loads of people there. They make noise before the film starts, but usually settle down when it starts.

When I went before Christmas with my family, there were two or three lads messing around throughout the whole thing. And at the end they both ran down to the bottom, and started fighting on the floor.

My mum and another family complained, and we got our money back for it.
