babies language skills

Does anyone know of any recordings of babies talking (if that’s the right word). I am also interested in the range of words used by a two year old.
Hope someone may be able to help.

Re: babies language skills

Well, seeing as how I have two and four year old kids, I can tell you that dependent upon the child…the range can be pretty decent (muti-sylable words) to simple words (single sylable) My older son could say phrases like “Love you da!” or “I hungy” for I’m hungry. If I was playing a game on my xbox or wii and he wanted to play he would come up to me and say “play game?”. If he needed his butt changed I would expect to hear something like “Dipe chan”

My younger son though, who just turned two is a bit slower in his vocabulary. He would just tell me “change!” or “Game….playyyyyyyyy?”….“Juiccccccceeeee!” if he is thristy. His words are more one word statements.

Re: babies language skills

What’s so fascinating about a baby using words? A parrot can use words as well and it likely has less intelligence than a baby. It’s only a matter of sounds afterall.

Now, the comprehension of said words is a different story. Show me a baby who knows when to laugh at a sitcom with no laugh track and I’ll be bloody impressed.

Re: babies language skills

That’s easy enough. both my boys can easily watch a show and will laugh at funny scenes. If it’s a verbal punchline above there comprehension though not so much, but if the image itself portrays something “silly” then yea, my boys will snicker and my oldest will tell me “Daddy, they are silly! hahahah!” then he will probably act silly himself and recreate the scene that just played out.

Youtube is your friend.

I am asking for a friend, who wanted to know whether I talk or make noises like a baby when I am in baby mode. Or what sounds I would make in the nursery?
